Are You Inspired Yet?

Hey there clever crafters!!

Lizzy here to bring you a bit more inspiration for our 2nd challenge here at Clever Dexter!

If you haven't yet been by Clever Dexter Challenge #2 you can check it out HERE.

Our generous sponsor for February is the fabulous Polkadoodles who has given our team 3 sweet images to play with and today I am here to share my project that I created with their romantic image called True Love.

True Love by Polkadoodles

I first cut the image out of 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper using my Silhouette Cameo and I am so excited to say that I have finally found the perfect cut settings for this paper.

I have been fiddling with these settings and this paper for literally months trying to get it right.

For anyone else who would like to know the magic numbers this is what worked perfectly for me using my new Silhouette Cameo 4...

CUT - 9
FORCE - 15

After cutting my image out I painted it in my favorite watercolors Twinkling H2O's following this months optional color palette.

Our optional color palette for February is

Pink, Teal, Red, Gray

To go with our new theme for this new challenge.

This months theme is

X's and O's

so I was delighted when I saw the little "xoxo" sticker in my Tim Holtz ChitChat sticker book

The rest of the card came together fairly easily once I picked out the perfect papers to match this color palette.

The red polkadots which is the opposite side of the paper with the word "LOVE" written on it, that came from a 6"x 6" paper pad called "The Station" from My Minds Eye. I have been hoarding it along with another similar pad from the same company called "Blush" for some time and I have to admit, I will be quite disappointed when they are both finally all used up.

I have tried to find them again to no avail, they were purchased in a clearance bin years ago so I suspect they were being discontinued at the time.

Too bad so sad! lol

Moving on, the card base is from a "Classic Card Pad" by Making Memories with 18 pre-cut, pre-scored cards in 6 different colors and patterns.

The solid gray that I used in the background was a metallic silver pre-cut, pre-scored card from Dollarama, to my surprise I couldn't find anything in my very large paper stash that was just solid gray.  I had grays but they all had patterns and all the patterns looked awful clashing with the 3 different patterns already going on here.  The only solid gray I could find was the inside of these pre-cut silver cards so I tore one in half, tore a little more off each edge then distressed the edges and attached to the card base with score tape, metallic silver side down obviously.

The pink papers came from a crafting kit I found on clearance years ago at Michaels, I don't know any details such as the company who made it or anything, but the fact that the reds from all 3 of these random papers and card base matched each other almost perfectly was just lovely to me!

The only thing that was missing at this point was the teal, I mean yes I painted this romantics shirt teal but it wasn't enough and quite frankly I found it looking rather "off" being the only teal on the whole card.  I needed more teal somewhere else, not much but something.

I suddenly noticed that this stick-on glittery ribbon was almost a perfect match to the teal in his shirt.

All that was left to do now was put it all together, I used a heart punch to pop a few hearts out of the papers I was already using on the card, I distressed the edges of everything including the tiny little hearts and completed it all with a bit of glitter glue around the edges!

I hope you like what I came up with and I hope it inspires you to create your own little card for Valentines Day!

If you do decide to get crafty why not enter your project into our Challenge!?

It actually doesn't have to be a card, it could be any crafty project that you feel inspired to make using a digi stamp.

You don't even have to use one of our sponsors stamps to qualify to win their prize however we think it would be absolutely amazing if you did use a stamp from Polkadoodles and as an added bonus, your Polkadoodles creation will be in the running to win in our TOP 3!

Before I go today I want to invite you to follow along Clever Dexter on Instagram where we share inspiration from our Clever Designers all month long!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
